While Chinese internet giant Tencent is known for its gaming properties, the company faces a lot of controversy in South Korea right now. Last month, the South Korean government threatened to ban it from operating in the country, due to its role in providing the tools for the massive ‘League of Legends’ (and other) game tournaments. This week, it appeared that the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was considering making a similar move against Netmarble as it is the owner of the game ‘Dragon Nest’, which is similar to ‘League of Legends’.

This past week in MMO news saw the launch of a new esports title, an esports organization deciding to go into business, a new mobile game in the South Korean market, and a change in leadership at a global game developer.

The Korean esports scene is so hot right now, it’s getting difficult to keep up with all the new teams and leagues. The latest is Valorant, a team that just this week signed up their first player, former ROX Tigers player Sangyoon “Hwangsub” Bok. The team is owned and operated by KT Rolster, but will now be known as the Valorant esports. It’s their first home, but they’ll be moving to the OGN esports Stadium studio in Seoul later this year.

word-image-12192 Welcome to a new round of MMO news and MMO-related topics! Value determination: It’s been a terrible week in esports. Riot Games has suspended esports pro Jay sinatraa Won for the next six months for refusing to fully cooperate with the company’s investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of an ex-girlfriend. Vaughn’s team, the Valorant Sentinels, is conducting its own investigation, which is why he was previously suspended from the team. South Korea: Don’t let anyone say that Koreans don’t take their esports seriously. A member of Congress in this country has introduced a bill that would prohibit companies from abruptly closing esports leagues, which he says violates the rights of the companies involved, esports, professional players and spectators. NetEase: MMO Fallout has a great review from NetEase Connect, which includes all of the company’s MMOs and other multiplayer games. In particular, we are working on Astracraft, a new role-playing game Naraka:. Bladepoint, and Project Ragnarok. EVE Echoes players can also expect a major update in June.

. Valheim : It has already sold 7 million copies, which is pretty impressive for a game that hasn’t even hit the market yet. Netmarble: Netmarble Corp. this week announced its revenue figures for the first quarter of 2021 and reported that revenue for the period was more than half a billion dollars, up 7 percent from the same quarter last year. Nevertheless, the company described the development as relatively slow, which is due to rising labour costs. Nexon: Finally, Nexon has announced the schedule for the NDC, the Nexon Developer Conference, which will take place from 6 to 11. The month of June will take place. Nexon says it will offer 49 open sessions on data analysis, programming, visual and sound art, and business management – and yes, there will be English and Japanese translations. ViewWhen it comes to consumers purchasing digital games, the biggest players in the industry are often overlooked. The biggest eSports title in the world, League of Legends, for example, is in the hands of a small company that has no interest in making or selling a physical product. Valorant, a major tournament organizer, has been able to make a name for itself by being one of the most successful companies in the space, but it has a tight-knit relationship with the developers as well..
